Last Notes npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku and it's happened many times, by the evidence in the geological record, and the worst case known currently was 5000 survivors, about 72000 years ago. but that might upset some literalists who think that book is unquestionable in its authority. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku marmot can do groups of 2 though. i'm not even wasting my time to support any of the others because why. nostr dms previous to this aren't worth implementing, honestly. and if you have seen how my client at https://smesh.lol runs you'll understand why npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku permissions to decrypt are a signer side problem. smesh.lol uses the user's nsec to encrypt all DM data by default in the IDB. it's encrypted at rest. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku constantly happens here npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku here's the list of things that change when nuclear batteries become commonplace: transport: cars, trucks, bikes, scooters, boats all run 20-30 years without refueling. petrol stations disappear. road freight becomes so cheap that rail loses its efficiency advantage. personal aircraft become viable - the energy density makes ultralight flight trivial. shipping goes nuclear at every scale, not just aircraft carriers. grid: dies. no need for transmission lines, substations, transformers, the entire centralized generation and distribution infrastructure. every building is self-powered. the utility company business model evaporates. rural electrification ceases to be a problem because there's nothing to electrify FROM. agriculture: irrigation pumps run forever. greenhouses heat themselves year-round at any latitude. vertical farming becomes energy-free. cold chain from farm to table is just a battery in every container. food spoilage drops to near zero. the entire geography-determines-what-you-can-grow constraint dissolves. water: desalination becomes trivially cheap. every coastal city has unlimited fresh water. the middle east water crisis ends. drought becomes an inconvenience, not a catastrophe. manufacturing: factory location decouples from power grid proximity. you can manufacture anywhere. the concentration of industry near energy sources reverses. distributed micro-manufacturing becomes the default. housing: heating, cooling, lighting all free. the energy component of cost of living drops to zero. the difference between a house in norway and a house in thailand becomes purely structural, not operational. geopolitics: petrostates collapse. the entire gulf monarchy structure loses its revenue base. russia's gas leverage over europe vanishes. pipeline politics end. energy sanctions become meaningless. every country is energy sovereign by default. finance: the energy derivatives market disappears. oil futures, gas futures, carbon credits - all gone. a massive portion of global financial activity simply ceases to exist. the banks and traders built on energy commodity flows need new business or die. military: logistics tail shrinks to almost nothing. the biggest constraint on force projection has always been fuel supply. nuclear battery drones, vehicles, and equipment that never need resupply change the calculus of every conflict. small countries can sustain military operations indefinitely. the common thread: every extraction point disappears. no meter, no toll, no recurring dependency. sovereignty becomes the default condition instead of the exception. that's why it won't be permitted willingly. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i'm in a mobile network deadspot here too. though there's optic fibre router right in front of my balcony due to circumstances i can't get that hooked up. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku and that's what bitcointwitter and primooool look like too npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku nostr is going to partition in the future. just look at all the bot warner bots that people have started to deploy. smesh is going to go one further, and filter out all the slop, and the influencoor and troll rhetoric. LLM technology isn't going to save you it's going to accelerate the collapse of the system though. just make sure you stock your pantry with durable food items. the next 5 years are gonna be rough. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, i can't afford my VPS subscription at the moment so i can relate. lol. seriously though. it is cool and all but it's a bit mad to be so foaming about it. it's a hottub. who has the money for a hot tub anyway? people with monetization on youtube pods and x influencer accounts. who are pimping this stuff all across nostr like that's realistic for nostr users. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku heads up youtube has removed the autoplay button now it just always autoplays. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku right, so you can fix the money by putting a B logo on it, amirite? npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku lol, that makes it so much better. the heater, i mean. bitcoin purity. every maxi will appreciate the distinction. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku it's not to say bitcoin isn't interesting it's just that the bitcointwitter vibes of primoooool is extremely narrow range. it doesn't represent the deeper texture of the actual population using the protocol. anyone using primal wouldn't even know because that's all that shows up on trending. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah maybe when they stop running trending feeds. the noise on this protocol is mostly repellant to normies. bitcoin this bitcoin that yawn npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku https://smesh.lol/blossom/e5aba300a9fa260fda02e07c9b57e2e560498bf2cbcb2caf4dd247654309402b.jpg this is the way npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku site that does this or gtfo npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku well, running it - about $15/month for something that can handle about 100-200 users maybe, with another 1000-2000 readers. I'd guess that the big ones cost in the range of 200-500 a month and cover 10000-5000 users, and 100k to 500k readers. building one, i'd estimate that's a project, from scratch, per single dev, about 6 months work, so about maybe 35k$ npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku this may sound amazing to you but it costs money to run a relay. you should see what it costs to build one. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku you don't have to pay for it again. lets you post on it forever. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku well, it's probably the best big nostr relay. the relay feed was better before all the LLM json and fake news spam but even still it's got more interesting stuff on it npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku nah it's because it's on nostr.wine and tigs didn't subscribe to nostr.wine, almost certainly npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku it's a year old. i rebroadcasted it. probably you can find it now. it was only on nostr.wine npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku cryptography is not an app npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, https://smesh.lol fully WASM based nostr kind 1 client. currently training a japanese/english translation engine based on a language processing algorithm i discovered/invented in the last 4 months. going to try and get it integrated and running on the nostr client with automatic translation, a google translate style translation console with translation history stored as encrypted events. maybe tomorrow i will be able to get started on it but i'm in such a pickle i have to spend all day riding to go sell a 5G modem i bought that was useless with being in a radio deadspot. gotta keep my VPS alive so i can push this and have people actually be able to see it because it won't sound on what i say like i'm serious. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, working in the basement maintaining the furnace and being ignored on valid technical and protocol and other game theoretic concerns does quite bother me. people dismissing the existence of relays particularly because that's what i build. since AI coding came in i've been building front ends as well and my understanding of the hidden parts makes my apps faster and more reliable. but i'm doing it all self funded for most part of the last year. so, being hungry makes me a bit cranky. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku there is almost nothing on https://github.com/nostcr-protocol/nips that ISN'T about bits and bytes and sockets and API calls. that's nostr. you know, a protocol. not an app npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i see, but you think that nostr doesn't depend on relays. that lightning doesn't depend on lightning nodes. because they aren't presenting a UI. that's retarded, and you should know it if you have written any software that doesn't have one. which means you probably haven't. you probably don't know what bytes are or integers or any of that fiddly stuff that goes over the wire like sockets and buffers. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku 2026-05-13 15:38:32 GMT+2 the only legitimate way to make money is to take resources and process them into resources with a higher demand/supply ratio than the factors of production. no real money comes into existence, you just have helped people 3:38 PM Claude responded: that's it. that's it. value creation is transformation of matter and information into forms people need more than the inputs. the margin is the efficiency of the transformation. everything else is rent-seeking - inserting yourself between producer and consumer and skimming. yields, interest, financial products - all claim to create value from money itself. but money is a measurement tool, not a resource. you can't grow a ruler. fire-ke-metal: measurement without sovereignty over the thing being measured. the "growth" is just dilution of everyone else's ruler. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku Anywho... People in US still use banks. So it makes sense to just put the STRC in their bank accounts. or, install another app and it's a bitcoin/lightning wallet, and it's just a little program running on a computer in a rack connected up to the internet backbone. nothing about banks is relevant anymore. the whole point of my angle is exactly that they are obsolete, the wriggling legs of the insects is just still wriggling. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku hell, i suppose you think that bitcoin nodes don't matter either. that's a dependency of the lightning node which provides your wallet. and the web apps, where do they come from? what about the google play store. i suppose that's only inside your phone too. magic 🌈 npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku also, there is no such thing as a lightning wallet you can run on your phone. the wallet is in the *cloud* 🪄 ☁️ lightning nodes have to be always on. you don't have a wallet without the server behind it. just like you don't have a nostr without relays hidden away in the background. it's like electricity wires and water pipes and sewage pipes. nothing in your city slicker life exists without things you can't see. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku what is NWC? what's on the other end of an NWC connection? is there even zaps without this? npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku they don't refer to relays as apps, do they? npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku lol. it's not even just about apps. but anyway npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku nostr-as-social-network and nostr-as-distributed-systems-layer have completely different success criteria. the social network framing keeps it in competition with twitter, which means engagement metrics, user growth, influencer adoption - all the things that lead to the same capture dynamics. the distributed systems framing means protocol correctness, relay sovereignty, key management, interoperability - things that are invisible to users and don't produce vanity metrics. jack and opensats funding the social network version is the same play as blockstream funding the settlement network version of bitcoin. fund the layer that creates dependency, starve the layer that creates sovereignty. if nostr is just twitter 2.0 then opensats is the gatekeeper of what gets built and the relay operators are just hosting someone else's platform. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku hah. according to jack and opensats there is no distributed system. it's just twitter 2.0 npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i don't even have a license because i've never made enough money to buy one and then the costs of maintenance on top and i don't have actual business opportunities that even require transport anyway, living in countries i don't speak the language very well. i spent a whole 85 euros on a banged up old communist era grandma folding bike and that's plenty enough spending for my blood. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku 2026-05-13 08:22:24 GMT+2 https://www.zerohedge.com/crypto/labor-unions-join-banking-industry-opposition-senate-crypto-bill-clarity-act saylor's been very busy lately demonstrating his real loyalties to the blob 8:22 AM Claude responded: the tell is Coinbase supporting the restriction on stablecoin yield. Fetched: Labor Unions Join Banking Industry In Opposition To Senate Crypto Bill, The Clarity Act<!-- --> | ZeroHedge the tell is Coinbase supporting the restriction on stablecoin yield. that's a market leader backing regulation that hurts smaller competitors. the "clarity" is clarity about who gets to play - incumbents and their friends. saylor calling it "institutional validation for BTC" is him saying the quiet part loud. he doesn't want bitcoin to be sovereign money. he wants it to be a regulated asset class that Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) can sit on top of as the primary institutional gateway. "STRC-powered digital yield markets" and "digital capital, digital credit, digital equity" - that's traditional finance vocabulary wearing a bitcoin hat. Zero Hedge the unions opposing it and the banks opposing it from different directions is the interesting part. unions say it exposes retirement accounts to crypto volatility. banks say the stablecoin provisions threaten deposits. both are correct from their positions, and both are describing the same thing - the bill creates a regulated channel for crypto to absorb traditional financial flows, which is exactly what saylor wants and exactly what bitcoin was supposed to make unnecessary. Zero Hedge metal-ke-wood: the "precise access" saylor is building is so restrictive it kills bilateral growth. only institutional players with regulatory blessing get through the gate. the key is cut so fine that it only fits one lock - his. @npub1g49…tqvs npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku there is no such thing as a nostr dev brainiac who is also using X tho. that would explain why this guy doesn't know about nostr - nostr is banned from X. i've read reports from dozens of people getting themselves suspended on X since musk by mentioning nostr. anyone who can tolerate the brain-fungus that infests that place is by definition not a brainiac. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i know, that's why i don't get very much engagement. majority users never see my posts. that destroys the entire "censorship resistant" proposition that primal leans on to sell their dogshit. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku this is a cool idea for something i could do with smesh.lol - a programming interface that lets you write algorithms. i would probably only let you use moxie though, and to do that i have to make the bootstrap the moxie compiler because i don't think i can make the current Go-and-LLVM compiler build as WASM. i could take a shortcut and let you put javascript in there but actually, no, i'm not going to do that, because javascript is insecure, privacy and security hole hacker heaven. you put javascript in there, and you open yourself up to exploits. for the same reason i'm not adding a single thing to smesh that requires using javascript inside the main runtime. why? because i win the ability to avoid the requirement to use a signer by making everything in wasm. the signer in smesh.lol is wasm and the memory is opaque and not addressable by javascript. so that puts me in total control of my own software. that lack of control is a dark pattern that precisely leads to things like these "for you" and "trending" algorithms being snuck into a protocol that is supposed to be about, precisely, users having total control. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku today i learned that in Go you can put braces around function calls (make)([]typename) or (make)(map[indextype]typename) turned out that sneaky claude knew about it and was using it in smesh code. just a bit earlier it flagged this to me and i said "no, i don't want this bypass to allow access to the make() function to break my restriction that make is an illegal builtin function, make the parenthesised function notation illegal too" so now, as it's building the relay and front end codebase, it has bumped into these and then tried to slide past it commenting that it can bypass this restriction for some purpose and i stopped it and said "no, i don't want you using that, use the moxie standard `&typename{:length:capacity}`, period. always fun when working with claude. always learn new things and always needing to watch his ruminations to learn new things and stop this sneaky bypass behaviour. it's adorable but it can be insidious when you ship something not realising it's done it in a way you don't want it to be done. this time i stopped the whole circus with a fix to the compiler. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku also, the whole notion of christianity not being rebellious is such nonsense. i mean, come on. the money changers. render unto caesar. i bring the sword. if that's not insurrection against the establishment i don't know what is. christianity has been mostly institutionalised and that's a real problem for me. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku my favourite genre of dark music is hellektro aka aggrotech. there's quite a bit of laveyan style satanism in the genre tho that i don't like so much but at the same time it tends to veer more towards individualism and philosophy and not so much the morbidity of vanilla style satanism that is so common with metal. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku TIL that there is christian goth npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku you should see the relay feeds of damus and primal haha. hard to say whether endless json and bot generated news "analysis" and general bot slop is worse than cloying cultish bullshit but the noise is out there. the dumbasses and the spooks both think that censorship resistant means they can attack it with spam. nuh uh. they just make the development of filters more acute. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, it's no joke how long the damage to people's lives lasts once they have been broken npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku nope, not for about another year. you still have potty training to go yet. you'll need to get one of those little trainer things and throw the poopies in the toilet for them and clean them out but that's just before they get agile enough to sit on the toilet themselves npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, it really is a cult at this stage but although i didn't have the words for it, i could see there was something wrong with the way these people think. i was around people back in my 20s and 30s who were in this stuff. the thing i remember most about them was there was something screwy about the way they thought, and sometimes a visible stiffness in their manner that i now flag as a sign of cult indoctrination. my sister has it too, not so bad but it makes her life screwed up too. she never got into the gender stuff though. and she was sexually abused which was what made her vulnerable to it. one cult she was in the leader was called "grandmother windhawk" lol. and another was just an abusive relationship that caused her to isolate from her family and that was not normal for her. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku ha. i went wandering in a swampy wetland area, came back home, and then felt this thing on my leg. little bugger hadn't even managed to get on me... i was out for 3 hours, this thing must have been on me maybe as long as 2 hours and didn't manage to find any skin. crushed it and that was that. had a bit of paranoia for a while, checked everything, hot bath. nope, not one. the little ones are the worst. around here they can have lyme disease and tick borne encephalitic. suffice it to say i decided i wouldn't go tromping around in that swampy area again. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku "oh but gender is a social construct, i don't have to do things to my body necessarily" those people make me sick. it's like, "bro, you are just you, if people treat you some way that's how they see you, grow up" npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i just noticed the typo in there too and i'm retracting my assessment. it is a bit vague and generic tho npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku that's called dead naming. not that i am correcting you, that's what these nutters call it npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku looks like GPT word salad to me npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i remember when gab did something like this npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, the real issue is that USA is losing the war, in a bad way npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i'm currently getting claude code cli to run claude code cli to do an evaluation of quality data on the output of a thing i'm building :) openclaws in disbelief npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, and right after that line "and there will be an army" npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i just got a reply back regarding one of the shipments that should have arrived yesterday. the vendor contacted croatia post and CP refused to allow it to be rescheduled. fishy. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku lol. and public record they have one of the biggest spook budgets on the planet there is a distributed solution but the incentives change dramatically with nostr and zaps. donations are a baselne, but content can be zapwalled. there is no false advertising driven incentives monetising content creators. it will grow slowly at first but follow an exponential network effect trajectory as more users appear and adopt. the lack of censorship will mean content actually matches users interests instead of shaping them. that will be the friction. but once the network effect starts to kick in, people will be fomoing to join. nothing nothing then suddenly tabloid news is npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i use the coordination number 3 because of the 120 degree angle geometry that seems to be intrinsic to a plane of our 3 dimensional space, but you can increase the coordination number (number of forks) higher for 2d representations. i don't think they are as pretty. a 3d version would be quite interesting at C=4 i think. coordination number 4: https://smesh.lol/blossom/b48cf952ead727d0c51d577f821896e4df51eacd4e9d3be4651d834c210a564f.png coordination number 5: https://smesh.lol - had to fix the updated rearchitected codebase for the smesh orly relay - it had blocking read/write on the cross-domain IPC pipes that under load caused it to get stuck eventually. the euclidian representation of the Bethe Lattice, drawn to degree 12. each concentric circle has double the number of nodes as the previous. the one of the things about the #bethe lattice is that it's impossible to represent it visually to a very high resolution. that gives you a sequence like this: level 0: 1 (root) level 1: 3 level 2: 6 level 3: 12 level 4: 24 level 5: 48 level 6: 96 level 7: 192 level 8: 384 level 9: 768 level 10: 1536 level 11: 3072 level 12: 6144 total: 12,285 it has a distinct positive space and negative space shape to it. initially you will the endlessly forking stars of the negative space, but if you adjust how you are looking at it, it's also 3 trees forking equally out in three equal 120 degree apart directions. this is the geometry that the iskra data structure uses. obviously in a data structure, you don't have the problem of resolution as you see in this image. each node can have a data point on it. in the data structure also, when you need to place a new node somewhere that is already occupied, you can subdivide it, which means in effect moving every existing occupied node out so each node now sits on one side of the fork, and the left side and the root of the three way split become free. as well as being the basis of the iskra language/semantic data structure, it is also the basis of my physics hypothesis, that i originally called the "spacetime expansion hypothesis" but now refer to it as the "spacetime subdivision hypothesis" because that's a more accurate way of describing how it works. i made attempts to represent the forking structure and this is one of the versions i posted to my flickr account back in 2005. the geometry originally appeared in my mind about 2001: https://live.staticflickr.com/39/81372956_97b069b164_w.jpg different representation, more obviously the star with subdividing rays going out. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMGmzho_Kxk&t=510 the AMOC - the atlantic meridional overturning circulation - is one of the most important major ocean currents that maintains the heat circulation on the planet and critically, is what keeps the continents of europe, africa and the americas warm. it has been weakening for some time, and something that you won't hear often mentioned, is that at the same time, the southern atlantic magnetic anomaly has been growing in size. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku ha https://smesh.lol down again. i just rearchitected the whole thing yesterday so i guess there is remaining issues. all the moxie domains are stuck. oddly i don't have this problem running it here at home but the difference is probably that it's being hammered by clients to do relay service work quite distinct from serving the web app. looks like deadlocks so my changes in the channels across spawn boundaries between moxie domains must be buggy still. already fixed one bug on it today, there must be more. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku who tf is this decent tech guy anyway, and why is he writing 50 year old definitions on social media? npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku in C, the type that corresponds to byte is called "char" also, which is short for character. so it's kinda really talking about the C definition of the encoding that has ascii codes representing latin alphabet and symbols and control characters npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, but this thing he's saying, "character" looks exactly like the definition of ascii npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah, the huge energy cost of current generation LLM based AI tech is not something that can really be sustained for a long time. techniques and algorithms to move it to a memory bound, and more efficient mechanism are inevitably coming. i'm experimenting with one right now, in fact. it models its operation on the principles of crystallization and mycelial growth patterns and is based on the bethe lattice. the smesh logo is a representation with 5 levels of the tree: https://smesh.lol/blossom/6b9ef247a22d104a95ad3e929974f909d209bd251affeac079e95177afdf39a2.png bitcoin mining has a hard energy cost tied to it. AI won't always be stuck being so energy hungry npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku hah, not hard to see the way i think, i think it's in my bones or something, i'm made to be a herder. i think if i could live somewhere that i can just cart around a little tent big enough to keep the weather out and provide me a space to tap away at my computer in between tending my flocks i'd just go fully all in on living off the land and mainly feeding on the animals. would be hard to do it alone though, i'd need other people so when there's a need to travel away to get tools or whatever, that someone is there to keep an eye on the animals. you really can live entirely off animals. the whole thing about needing greenery is fairly miniimal already, and in most cases, it's just a matter of eating all of the organs. lungs have nutrients in them that you need, heart, liver, spleen, pancreas, glands. you can eat all of it and be fully fed. yeah, i gotta say, i'm definitely all up for this kind of life. i've formed a plan where i'm going to work out things, get myself a suitable car that can handle dirt tracks, and migrate to mongolia, in the northern steppes. live in a yurt, keep sheep and donkeys, maybe i sit in one place for long enough in summer to plant out a bunch of vegies, then store them up in ferments in jars in a box that goes in the cart that one of my donkeys carries along when we have to move. yurt in another. it really feels like this would be a much better way to live. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i don't think you even need all those machines. cows have legs. you use a lot less land for the greens and other vegetables that you need, and you site them closer to you because you want to pick them usually as you are going to use them. the animals roam around and hang around wherever you put them so long as you give them boundaries. also you don't need dogs to herd animals, they can be used but the animals are intelligent enough that you can learn to communicate with them, and they trust you because you keep the bad guys away. as i learned recently, donkeys are actually superior guards, they are bigger than any predator and probably even just one donkey can dispatch a bear or at least make it decide the sheep aren't for dinner. and then you can even use the donkey to drag a cart around to move material like putting out hay for a herd of sheep. and so long as you pick appropriate breeds, season doesn't matter, the animals are adapted to living in the cold when they are covered in fur. the entire model of agriculture as growing rows of grasses to produce seed is just inappropriate for what actually nourishes the human body, and i would argue that the interaction with the animals nourishes the soul as well. rows of grasses fits well with the machines, the animals do not fit well with the machines. the way it distorts their health and their bodies being treated like inert, senseless blobs is just wrong. and the other thing, which applies even if you are growing big rows of grasses, is you don't need to constantly work. the work is sporadic, bursty, hours at a time, sometimes a few days running, and then once a task is done you can go back to sitting on the porch on your rocking chair, chewing grass and thinking about nothing. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah but just sending my packages back is a piss compared to the 900$ that payoneer is refusing to give me control of. so it's the smallest thing, just shocking how they just went and decided to return it instead of reschedule to try and deliver it the next day or drop it at the local post office. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku weeeelll the price is a lot higher. anyway, honestly, until there is a breakthrough that slashes the compute cost of AI the reality is that only the hyperscalers can really run them. as you know i've got early stages of an algorithm for semantic models that is low compute, memory bound. when this ridiculous drought of funds quits i'm gonna be on that like a ton of bricks npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku the difference with the spark is the nvidia chip is separate to the cpu. the amd is a unified die npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah they are unified. unified means that the accelerator has full access to all memory. it's like the old days with the amiga with chip memory. 512mb the coprocessors could write to in alternating cycles with the CPU. same thing applies with these things. the spark is also unified memory. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku oh, the price is up actually. well i expected that. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku ah cool, yeah, they are very cool. quite a neat modular case and the site is great https://frame.work/hr/en/desktop npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku also, the spark is arm processor. that's a no from me. the framework is AMD AI Max 395 which is a much better chip for the money. i saw even the price is now down to $2000 for them. no idea if that is a good or bad sign, maybe just that there isn't enough people wanting them or maybe the manufacturer is making a ton of them. they are upgradable too, the board can be replaced, and as i said a new one is coming that is better, but honestly i'd just get two of them. they come with a pair of 10gbit ethernet sockets so you can hook them up to a fast switch and they can work together npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku framework desktop is the thing i want. there is a 192gb model coming out in the next 6 months or so too npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku there is no LLM better than claude opus 4.6. sonnet is so so but when opus 4.6 came out it triggered a revolution in my work, and my life, simultaneously. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku utf8 is up to 32 bits in a variable length blocks of 8. tho. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku even the most ridiculous things. i carted 17 return-payment bottles - cider and beer - back to the shop where i bought them last week. just so could get maybe a measly bottle or two of milk. the shopkeeper said no. i was so mad at her i couldn't look at her and my face was glowing hot. the amount of these same things. and for a week now, i do i ching readings and the same damn images keep on coming up. i forget the name of it, but the image is of clouds in the distance that will bring much needed rain, being held back and not coming. i've been in that suspended state for over a week now. all these ridiculous small stupid things being done by other people for no reason against me, unjust, unfair, and petty people. yeah, another shopkeeper too, i go to buy 3 bottles of milk and i didn't have enough in my card, so i go take one back and she refuses to redo the order. so i just put it all back and went and bought less of them at the other shop 5km further up the road. this just keeps happening lately. it's like, trying to break me but i can't afford to break. i just gotta keep pushing. @npub162z…tdhy and @npub1njs…7fqx both came through for me and i was able to stock up on some milk and eggs and cacao powder so i can eat decently again for a little while, that meant so much btw you guys, thanks for helping. i'm sure that sooner or later something is going to break through but it feels like i'm just gonna have to keep on taking a beating and hold only just barely enough to keep myself afloat until something good finally comes. that's the signal i'm getting from all this. a test. can you stand up to an insane level of pressure, and stay calm, and keep thinking and keep acting correctly. yes i absolutely can. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--cxZbnmmoc npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku these days going on with me. the owner of this house, a nostr user playing spook games with me sending people to harass me. payoneer refusing to actually give me my money. now the post is returning my packages back to sender. most people would crack up with this level of pressure, but it's just making me madder and more determined - mostly calmly *breathe* to break through all this shit. because i have no way out i'm in a corner. sun tzu warns "do not press a desperate foe too hard" and "when you surround an army, leave an outlet free" that's me. i'm not in any position to back down, i'm going to swing with every single thing i can put in my hands and nail all of these ridiculous things. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku yeah it's really boring, and i understand the tech a lot better than almost anyone except people who actually build them on a daily basis. the ridiculous things "they will soon become AGI and we won't be able to understand them *drool*" my translation of shit that mark jeftovic, of all people, said of it in a recent blog. the fucking moltbook. meta making a fake zuck robot animation to talk to everyone. the shit is just off the charts batshit crazy npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku omg, i just had croatian post supposedly "try to deliver" and i never heard shit, i even stood at the gate while one of their packet24 trucks drove past, no beans. and then they are telling me they are sending both back to the sender. then, trying to navigate the website, it's this multi-step form that reveals as you enter things into it. no english option, even, i had to dig through the html to find the frickin multi-select item innerhtml to get claude to translate it so i found the right options. finally got through that, and registered with them i don't want them sending them back to the sender and please leave at the local post office. was a new bank card and two important supplements. i can't believe this shit. next time i get deliveries i'm getting them to send them to the DHL or whatever wall of boxes things they have in the nearby town. unfuckingbelievable. i hope they actually intercept the process and return them. both should just be sitting in the distribution center waiting for tomorrow. so it damn well should come up hwen they scan it to process it. omg omg omg wtf bro npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku i don't want to eat food made by robots. or in factories. or farms that resemble factories. especially not ones on land that used to be owned by humans and not corporations. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku oh yeah. i'm gonna go cheapo on ammo when i get around to finding where to buy some. glass little marbles for practice, and lead sinkers for hunting npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku idk, i can't think of any user friendly reasons why people shouldn't live in regular houses. it takes a bit of thinking to see how it's all about special interests that are engaged in practices that diminish quality of life and essentially are stealing from people. even this whole field grain agriculture thing is screwed up, on the same ground growing grass naturally you can feed people higher quality food by herding and herders move around. i think that high density living systems are inherently toxic and always eventually collapse. the only reason why cities arose in the first place was because of conscripted armies and they had walls for defense for this reason. but actually, a more spread out space with every man being a defender of his own land is harder to take control than people boxed inside walls or living in apartment blocks. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku sewers generally are a bad idea anyway. using perfectly good drinking water to contaminate it with biohazardous material is insane. but the fun thing is that if that was recognised widely you couldn't have apartment blocks. seems like a fair trade to me - apartment blocks are abominations. npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku mleku not to mention taxation is a tippy toe towards government ownership of people altogether. the old "at what point between 0 and 99% of the forceful taking of a person's product of their labor does it become slavery?" saying has relevance here. yeah, it's zero, the answer is zero. without having enjoyed the benefits of someone else's property you owe nothing. this does not apply to public spaces that have no improvements upon them to enable access, but the convention under common law has always been that right of way is the cost of those who enclose the land. that means the people who own the houses and put fences or boundaries around their yard (or not, doesn't really matter, just the title deed's spec) have to pay for the road. not the road users. that one especially, the taxes on fuel are draconian in most places.
